Palaie Gaoteote committed to USC back in February, and now his recruitment is officially over in the run-up to National Signing Day.

Gaoteote has been in the Trojans class for nearly a full year, but some of the biggest college football powerhouses in the country have tried to flip the five-star prospect.

Most notably, Ohio State had booked the nation's top linebacker for an official visit last weekend.

He did not make it to Columbus, and will not make trips to Oregon, UCLA, and Washington that he had been considering. Instead, he tells 247Sports that he will definitely be a Trojan.

"I decided to not go on the Ohio state visit or any upcoming visit," Gaoteote said, "and completely shut the process down as far as recruiting goes."

Even with this news, Gaoteote won't be among the many players that take advantage of the early signing period next week. He plans to put his decision in ink on the regular February signing day, and will head to USC in January when the Trojans have a big recruiting weekend.
