There must be something in the water in Los Angeles. Earlier this offseason, UCLA tried to steal the nickname "Linebacker U" from Penn State -- of course, that didn't sit well at all with the Nittany Lions.
Now, another school wants that nickname -- of course, it's the University of Southern California. Assistant head coach Ed Orgeron has started a little Twitter campaign to get USC known as Linebacker U:
I really don't know why schools just don't leave that nickname alone -- Penn State established it as its own a long time ago. It seems like USC just wanted in on this battle to go against rival UCLA.
Also, didn't USC already name itself Wide Receiver U?
