Report: USC Received "Contradicting Stories" On How DB Josh Shaw Injured Ankle, Will Investigate

On Monday, we learned that USC captain and senior defensive back Josh Shaw sprained both of his ankles after jumping off of a balcony so he could save his 7-year-old nephew from drowning at a family party. It was a fantastic story of how a young man put family ahead of everything, even his senior year on the football field.

There's just one problem: it may not be true.

During his weekly press conference today, Trojans head coach Steve Sarkisian told reporters that the school is investigating whether or not Shaw's story is true, as he reportedly received "contradicting stories" on what happened.

Right after Sarkisian explained the situation, a report came out from Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News that Shaw's injuries did not come from a family party.

Shaw won't be available to the media until the entire situation is resolved. We'll keep you posted as more information comes in.
