Report: USC Football Alumni Angry About Pat Haden's Handling Of USC Coaching Search

USC, thought by many to be the best available job in college football, somewhat surprisingly filled its opening by promoting interim head coach Clay Helton this afternoon. Helton has been solid filling in for the fired Steve Sarkisian, and has the support of the current Trojans, but according to FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman, the move is not so popular with Trojan alumni.

Apparently that feeling is not quite universal, however. Former USC quarterback Matt Barkley is a fan of Helton.

USC was thought to have its pick of college coaches, but according to reports, chose Helton after pursuing NFL names.

Helton is certainly not the biggest name, but if he wins going forward, he shouldn't have much trouble winning those alumni over. If he doesn't, thinks could get very interesting for Haden.
