Back in March, ESPN revealed the only 11 teams that can win the 2016 College Football Playoff, an interesting mixture of surprises and powerhouse programs.
Then it decided to head the other direction, naming the seven best teams with no shot at making the playoff. This list may surprise you.

Here’s the list, via ESPN:
- Ohio State
- Michigan State
- Ole Miss
- North Carolina
Initial thoughts: Some of these teams, like Ohio State, USC and Michigan State, should be pretty solid this season, but obviously have some challenges to overcome. The Buckeyes lost tons of talent to the NFL Draft during the offseason, but I wouldn’t count them out just yet. USC’s schedule is absolutely insane, and Michigan State has to battle its way through some talented Big Ten squads.
What do you think, college football fans? Did they get it right?
