USC was an absolutely dominant college football program in the 2000s, winning the 2004 BCS National Championship and going an amazing 97-19 under Pete Carroll from 2001-2009. The Trojans experienced incredible highs and lows during that stretch, losing the 2005 title game to Vince Young and Texas, and vacating a number of wins due to an NCAA investigation centering on star running back Reggie Bush.
Carroll's USC is the perfect subject for an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary, and on October 13, the network will debut Trojan War, directed by USC alumnus and professor, and Friday Night Lights writer Aaron Rahsaan Thomas. Today, ESPN dropped a trailer for the upcoming documentary.
Some of the best 30 for 30 docs, including The U and Pony Excess, have been about great college football programs and their run-ins with the NCAA. We can't wait for this one.
