With the first round of the NFL Draft officially in the books, the focus shifts over to all the top prospects that slid down draft boards. Although a few notable players didn’t hear their names called yet, it’s likely they’ll be on a roster by tonight.
The second round will feature a ton of big names, such as Drew Lock, Greedy Williams and D.K. Metcalf. Another prospect that shined in college but didn’t go in the initial round of the draft is Byron Murphy.
During his time at Washington, Murphy became the program’s top defender due to his playmaking ability. He finished with 58 tackles and four interceptions this past season.
Murphy unfortunately fell out of the first round yesterday, but it doesn’t sound like he’ll wait very long tonight.
According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Murphy is the “heavy favorite” to be the opening pick of the second round.
Washington CB Byron Murphy is the heavy favorite to go at the opening pick of the second round if Arizona holds on to the pick tonight. https://t.co/jCKROfW3Sf

Arizona already created quite the buzz by selecting Kyler Murray with the No. 1 overall pick of the draft.
The Cardinals currently hold the first pick for Day 2 of the NFL Draft. It’d be the perfect landing spot for Murphy since he grew up in Arizona.
Perhaps the team wants to pair Murphy across from Patrick Peterson in their secondary.
Stay tuned.
