Alabama defensive back Scooby Carter is in the NCAA transfer portal once again. It is his second appearance in the portal.
The 6-foot, 186-pound freshman cornerback joined Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide as part of the Tide's 2019 recruiting class. The 4-star recruit - No. 9 CB and No. 91 overall prospect, according to 247Sports - was a big-time late pickup for Alabama back in 2019.
But Carter struggled to find playing time during the 2019 season, making just three appearances throughout the year. After a frustrating rookie season in Tuscaloosa, the defensive back entered his name in the transfer portal in November before pulling his name back out in January.
A month later, Carter is back in the NCAA Transfer Portal. It's been a turbulent start to Carter's collegiate career thus far.
Scooby Carter, who was a four-star member of Alabama's 2019 recruiting class, originally went into the portal in November.
Then withdrew his name in January.

">Matt Zenitz of AL.com breaks down the entire series of events below:
This certainly isn't the best start for Carter's collegiate career.
The 4-star freshman will be a sought-after transfer player, but it'll be interesting to see if he ends up back with the Crimson Tide, once again. Texas A&M could wind up being a major player for Carter as he was once committed to the Aggies during his high-school recruitment.
Given Carter's recent history, it certainly appears his transfer recruitment won't be over anytime soon.
