Earlier this week, Alabama head coach Nick Saban complained about the start time for the Crimson Tide’s game this weekend.
Saban isn’t a fan of the 11:00 a.m. local time kickoff, and made it clear in his press conference. Not long after, Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn decided to weigh in.
Malzahn said he would prefer an earlier start time to get ready for the next week’s game. “6 p.m. kick. Personally I wish it was at noon so we’d have more time to prepare for our next opponent,” Malzahn said.
It was an interesting quip from Malzahn about the rival Tide.
Well, it didn’t take long for someone to respond. Alabama columnist Cecil Hurt was a guest on the Paul Finebaum Show and had a message for Malzahn.
“For me, I think it’s a great idea. I think every Auburn game should start at noon. I think [Malzahn] does need an extra six hours of preparation,” Hurt said.

There’s no love lost between these two programs.
It will be fun to watch Auburn and Alabama battle this year. Freshman quarterback Bo Nix made a name for himself in the Tigers’ win over Oregon and he looks to be the real deal.
Can the Tide contain him? We’ll find out on November 30.
