Alabama Football: Nick Saban Admits He Thought Jacob Coker Would Be Alabama's Starting Quarterback Last Season

Alabama has a quarterback competition on its hands for the second year in a row. Last season, Blake Sims held off Jacob Coker for the starting role, and capped off his career with an outstanding campaign.

This year, Coker is back for his senior season and will look to beat out several other competitors. Interestingly, Alabama head coach Nick Saban admitted that during training camp last summer, he believed Coker, not Sims, was going to win the job.

Surely Coker was disappointed he couldn't earn the nod in 2014, but better late than never. He'll have to outplay redshirt freshman David Cornwell, junior Alec Morris, true freshman Blake Barnett and sophomore Cooper Bateman this time out.
