In college football scheduling, teams usually choose a game against a far inferior opponent for Homecoming. It provides an opportunity for congregating fans and alumni to watch a breezy, blowout victory and enjoy a return to campus.
Most of Alabama's opponents are inferior to the Crimson Tide, but that doesn't mean today's Homecoming announcement didn't raise some eyebrows.

Alabama went 7-1 in the rugged SEC West last season, capturing the division crown. Arkansas, meanwhile, finished in last with a 2-6 record, but the Razorbacks are projected to be an improved team in 2015. Also, when the two teams met in Fayetteville last fall, Alabama eked out a 14-13 win.
Taking a quick glance at the Crimson Tide's 2015 schedule, that Sept. 26 game against ULM looks like it would be the most obvious selection for Homecoming in Tuscaloosa. Of course, if Alabama is as good on the field as they project to be on paper, they could steamroll Arkansas and make this whole point moot.
