It looks like Jalen Hurts isn’t the only Alabama quarterback taking his talents elsewhere in 2019. Backup Layne Hatcher is also reportedly considering a transfer.
According to Matt Zenitz of AL.com, Hatcher has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. The move comes less than a year after Hatcher spurned Arkansas State at the last minute to sign with Alabama.
Hatcher’s chances at reps were buried by the combination of starter Tua Tagovailoa and former starter Hurts. Those two and Mac Jones were the only Alabama quarterbacks to throw passes for the team in 2018.
Coming out of high school in the Class of 2018, Hatcher was a three-star prospect. He was considered the No. 53 dual-threat quarterback prospect in the country, and the No. 24 prospect from the state of Arkansas, per 247Sports.

The Alabama Crimson Tide have lost a handful of players to the transfer portal this offseason.
Jalen Hurts is on his way to Oklahoma, where he is expected to be named the starter. Additionally, defensive back Kyriq McDonald is off to Cincinnati, while offensive lineman Richie Petitbon is going to Illinois.
