The college football quarterback race receiving the most hype this off-season is at Ohio State, and rightfully so, but the most wide open position battle may be at Alabama. Five players are vying for the right to start for the Crimson Tide, but according to many reports, one of the front runners was not at the portion of today’s practice open to the media.

This could be nothing, and Coker might have rejoined practice later, but it is interesting, especially considering how tight the quarterback race seems to be. Earlier this summer, Nick Saban admitted that he thought Coker would win the job over eventual starter Blake Sims. Will the former Florida State signal caller finally get his shot in 2015, or does this absence portend things to come? We’ll keep you updated as we find out more about Coker’s status.
