At the start of Alabama spring practice, former four-star recruit Ale Kaho’s status with the team seemed uncertain. He missed the first session of the spring.
Kaho was an important special teams player for the Crimson Tide last season. He recorded 11 tackles, seven on kickoff, as well as a fumble recovery, en route to two special teams player of the week awards.
However, Nick Saban’s first spring press conference brought Kaho’s future with the program into question. Via Saturday Down South:
“He’s got some issues that he’s dealing with,” Saban said. “We’re trying to be supportive of him every way that we can. I think that we’ll just continue to try to help him every way that we can. I don’t know if there will be some point in time whether he’ll be ready to come back and play football or not.”
That quote made Kaho’s status with the team sound pretty tenuous.
On Monday night, however, Ale Kaho posted a message about his return to Alabama to his Instagram account.
Rivals, which had previously reported that Kaho would return to practice, has a screenshot of a story posted by Kaho.
In it, he captions a picture from Alabama practice with “They lied to you… 10 gon be back real soon… stronger than ever! #TestMe💯”.
That is great news for a Crimson Tide team that can use the depth on defense, with how much it loses to the NFL Draft every season.
