In college basketball, most players make the jump to the NBA at the first sign that they may be drafted. Some coaches, most notably Kentucky’s John Calipari, has embraced players leaving early. We would never generally compare Alabama football’s Nick Saban to Coach Cal, but according to A’Shawn Robinson, the legendary head coach convinced him to make the early jump to the NFL.
A’Shawn Robinson (@AshawnRobinson): I thought about staying another year at Bama but Coach Saban thought it was the best for me to come out.

Alabama, or any team, could definitely use a senior A’Shawn Robinson, but good for Saban for putting the player’s interests first here. The big defensive lineman is definitely pro-ready.
