According to a report by AL.com, redshirt freshman Blake Barnett will start at quarterback for Alabama as it takes on USC on Saturday night.
Earlier in the week, it was revealed by Alabama head coach Nick Saban that two quarterbacks would be seeing time in the Crimson Tide's contest against the USC Trojans. Now, via Matt Zenitz of AL.com, we're learning which player will get the start. Redshirt freshman Blake Barnett will get the look over junior Cooper Bateman.
Barnett was the first signal-caller to take the field ahead of the contest as well. Perhaps that's on purpose.
Alabama's quarterback competition was thought to be between three players - Barnett, Bateman and Jalen Hurts. While it appears that Barnett will start tonight, that certainly doesn't mean he's firmly entrenched as the team's starting quarterback.
Barnett, a five-star player, was one of the most coveted prospects in the country for the 2015 class. This will be his first collegiate start.
