Alabama QB Blake Barnett's Fiancee Maddie Peterson Will Be On-Hand To See His First Start

Blake Barnett's fiancee Maddie Peterson will be on-hand to watch him make his first start on Saturday night.

Saturday afternoon, it was reported by AL.com that Alabama redshirt freshman quarterback Blake Barnett would be making his first collegiate start when the Crimson Tide takes on USC in Dallas. Blake Barnett's fiancee, pro surfer Maddie Peterson, will be in the stands to cheer him on.

Peterson posted a photo of herself and her fiance on Instagram, letting her followers know that she'll be in Dallas to cheer him on. The Crimson Tide and the Trojans are scheduled to kick off at 8:00 p.m. ET from AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

Barnett and Peterson, who have been dating for about a year, got engaged on the Fourth of July. The duo posted photos of both the ring and the celebration to social media.

Barnett won the starting job over fellow signal-callers Cooper Bateman and Jalen Hurts. It was revealed earlier in the week by Nick Saban, however, that Bateman will also play in the contest. Barnett did not play at all in 2015 - so this won't just be his first collegiate start, it'll be his first collegiate action.

Could ESPN show Peterson on-screen after Barnett makes a huge play? It's possible, as we all remember the whole Brent Musburger - Katherine Webb situation. Webb became a star after the incident.

Barnett is a 6-foot-5, 210-pound pro-style quarterback out of Corona, California. He was ranked as a five-star player by most recruiting outlets. He chose Alabama over 12 other schools - Notre Dame, Arizona, California, Colorado, Duke, Michigan, Jacksonville State, Ole Miss, Oregon, UCLA and West Virginia.

It'll be interesting to see whether Barnett can out-duel Bateman, who, at this point, has more experience. Either way, it looks like he's got a pretty good support system at home.
