Clint Trickett, the former West Virginia and Florida State quarterback, joined the Alabama staff as a graduate assistant. After less than a month, he is reportedly off to join Lane Kiffin at FAU.
Coaching Search's Chris Vannini reports that Trickett will coach tight ends under Kiffin for the Owls.
Florida Atlantic: A source tells CoachingSearch that Alabama graduate assistant Clint Trickett has joined the FAU staff as tight ends coach. Trickett spent the last two years as East Mississippi CC quarterbacks coach and had recently joined Alabama as a GA. He fills the spot left by Charlie Weis Jr., who joined the Atlanta Falcons staff today.
FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman is also reporting the Trickett to FAU news.
Trickett, whose father Rick is the highly accomplished offensive line coach at Florida State under Jimbo Fisher, previously coached at Eastern Mississippi Community College before taking the job at Alabama. He is definitely a fast riser in the coaching ranks, just a few years out of West Virginia, where he started at quarterback in 2013 and 2014 before retiring due to repeated concussions.
