Bucky Brooks shocked many football fans this week when he ranked Tua Tagovailoa over Joe Burrow. However, his positional rankings didn't shock FS1 radio host Colin Cowherd.
Over the past few months, Cowherd has been on record saying that he believes Tagovailoa is a better prospect than Burrow. Even though Burrow won the Heisman Trophy and shattered conference records at LSU, Cowherd isn't as impressed as other members of the media.
During this afternoon's episode of The Herd, Cowherd discussed why he believes Tagovailoa should be selected before Burrow. His main reason was that Burrow is closer to his ceiling than Tagovailoa.
"Joe Burrow is an older quarterback closer to his athletic ceiling. Tua didn't have to wait for his fifth year to be great," Cowherd said. "He was remarkable at 19 as a true freshman called on in the national championship against a great Georgia team."
Cowherd said this season was a perfect storm for Burrow. He also said that Tagovailoa draws comparisons to a future Hall of Famer in Drew Brees.
This might sound like a hot take from Cowherd, but he's actually sticking to his original stance regarding these two prospects.
Regardless of what Cowherd thinks, the majority of mock drafts have Burrow going first overall to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Which quarterback would you rather take in the first round: Joe Burrow or Tua Tagovailoa?
