Alabama will have a full crop of quarterbacks for the College Football Playoff, after all.
Wednesday, Alabama quarterback David Cornwell announced he'd be transferring - making it three Crimson Tide signal-callers bolting from the program in just the past three months. In early September, opening day starter Blake Barnett announced he'd be leaving the program. Earlier this week, Cooper Bateman decided the same.
It turns out Alabama will be okay for the College Football Playoff, however. While Barnett left the program (he's headed to Arizona State), the other two - Bateman and Cornwell - will remain with the team through the event. That's good, because Jalen Hurts does need a backup quarterback. Without Bateman and/or Cornwell, Alabama would be down to a walk-on quarterback for a backup.
Alabama's quarterback situation for 2017 should be interesting, to say the least. But for the rest of the 2016 season, the Crimson Tide appears to be just fine.
