Report: If LSU Beats Alabama, Tigers May Sign Ed Orgeron To Contract By Midnight

The Alabama-LSU matchup is big every year and it may have just gotten even bigger for LSU's Ed Orgeron.

Alabama and LSU will square off in Baton Rouge, La. on Nov. 5 and if the Tigers can top the Crimson Tide, interim head coach Ed Orgeron could officially become the team's head coach by midnight according to Chris Low of ESPN:

An unnamed source shared with Low that "if they beat Alabama [on Nov. 5], they might sign him to a new contract before midnight."

Whether or not that statement is meant to be taken with a grain of salt or seriously, it wouldn't be all that crazy. If the Tigers stumble against Florida this weekend and suffer a big loss against Ole Miss the weekend prior to their meeting with Alabama, then things may change.

Nevertheless, it wouldn't be all that surprising if they do in fact beat Alabama and finish with a record of 6-6 and still hire Orgeron as head coach.

Alabama has beaten LSU five straight times including the National Championship game in 2012.
