Just two years ago, Eyabi Anoma was the No. 4 overall recruit in the country per 247Sports’ composite rankings, and the No. 1 defensive end in the 2018 class.
Anoma was the top-ranked recruit in Alabama’s No. 5-ranked class that year. The group featured one other five-star recruit, and a dozen four-star players. The Maryland native was one of the most coveted recruits in the country, and expected to be a defensive star under Nick Saban.
Last offseason, Anoma was dismissed by the University of Alabama. It is unclear exactly what happened, with Nick Saban saying that “the guy was dismissed from school, and that’s really all I can say about it.” It didn’t take too long for the former blue-chipper to find another football home. In August, he committed to Dana Holgorsen and the Houston Cougars.
His time at UH isn’t lasting any longer than his time in Tuscaloosa. Houston is now the second program to dismiss Anoma since the start of his college career in 2018. According to multiple reports, the linebacker is out after an unspecified violation of team rules. From Houston Chronicle Cougars beat writer Joseph Duarte:

There are plenty of schools that will overlook a lot to land a five-star talent like Anoma. Unfortunately, his time may be running out if he can’t get things together.
It is very unclear what his options will be now, after flaming out of two programs.
Eyabi Anoma recorded nine tackles for Alabama as a freshman in 2018. He sat out this fall after transferring over, and was expected to have a major role on the Cougars defense in 2020.
