Four-star defensive end Monkell Goodwine is one of the top pass rushers in the 2021 recruiting class. The Fort Washington, Md. native is starting to trim down his list.
Goodwine is the No. 114 overall recruit in the class, per 247Sports‘ composite rankings. He’s the No. 9 strongside defensive end, and the No. 5 recruit in the state for that recruiting cycle.
So far, none of the prognosticators over at 247 have logged a prediction for where he will land. He has plenty of options though, with 23 reported offers, including some from many of the best programs in the country. We have an idea of where he may be headed though, with SEC programs appearing to stand out. Four of the new top five schools on his list are in the conference.
Alabama, defending national champion LSU, Tennessee, and Texas A&M all make the cut. They’re joined by Big 12 power Oklahoma to round out the group.

Last November, he released a top eight with a bit more Big Ten flavor. Tennessee was nowhere to be found, and the other four teams listed above were joined by Georgia, home state Maryland, Ohio State, and Penn State.
This doesn’t mean that his recruitment is completely shut down for those schools, or others, though. Just yesterday, he sent a tweet indicating that Florida State and new head coach Mike Norvell were looking to get involved, with the message “anything can happen.”

We’ll see plenty more from Monkell Goodwine over the next few months, as we approach the December Early Signing Period and National Signing Day in February.
