Nick Saban Confirms Blake Barnett's Transfer

Blake Barnett's transfer is official.

Blake Barnett, a five-star quarterback in the 2015 recruiting class, is officially no longer with Alabama's football program, Nick Saban confirmed this evening.

It was first reported on Wednesday by AL.com that Barnett was transferring out of the Crimson Tide's program. The California native is a redshirt freshman and was the team's starter for the season opener against USC, but the job was won by true freshman Jalen Hurts. Barnett had since been relegated to backup duty.

Saban confirmed to reporters tonight that Barnett is no longer with the team. He said he was unsure of Barnett's status on Wednesday night.

"We received word this atfernoon that Blake Barnett had officially withdrawn from school," Saban says.

Barnett is reportedly considering transferring to a JUCO school that might allow him to play for an FBS team in 2017, as outlined by 247Sports' Barton Simmons today.

He will surely be pursued quite heavily by other power programs.

Alabama (4-0) is set to take on Kentucky on Saturday.
