Nick Saban Jabs Media For Never Asking About QB Blake Sims

Alabama head coach Nick Saban has made it clear over the past few months that whoever lands the starting quarterback position will do so via an open competition - meaning that one of his players is going to have to earn it on the practice field. That being said, most media members assume that it will be Florida State transfer Jacob Coker who will land the gig over senior signal-caller Blake Sims. Sunday morning, after Saban was asked about Coker at Alabama's Media Day, he made it a point to mention that Sims, too, has been playing well.

It's unlikely that Saban's words imply that Sims actually has the lead in the competition, but it's not out of the question. Regardless of who starts, Alabama fans should be pretty excited that Saban is speaking highly of both players - you never know if or when the backup will be needed.
