Nick Saban On Being Criticized For Hiring Lane Kiffin: "I Got Beat Up Like A Drum For Doing It, Now It’s Great"

Nick Saban's decision to hire Lane Kiffin this off-season certainly seemed questionable at the time, and was mocked by many, because after his ouster from USC, there were few easier targets in the sports world than Kiffin. To Kiffin and Saban's credit, through four weeks Alabama's offense looks very good. The Crimson Tide offense is averaging 42 points and 587 yards per game, and looks to be improving by the week. During a media session today, Saban took the opportunity to gloat a bit.

Alabama hasn't quite hit the meat of the schedule yet, but don't expect the Tide to slow down as the season progresses. Alabama has a bye this week, but will get a real test on October 4 when they head to Ole Miss. The Rebels have one of the nation's top defenses, and have been ranked No. 10 in the AP Top 25 for two weeks.
