Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts could be close to making a decision on his graduate transfer.
The Crimson Tide’s star QB put his name into the NCAA’s transfer portal following the 2018 season. He’s since taken visits to a couple of major programs.
Hurts has followed two major head coaches on Twitter since his name was put into the NCAA’s transfer portal:
- Miami head coach Manny Diaz
- Maryland head coach Mike Locksley
Another major program is believed to be in the mix, too: Oklahoma.
Hurts visited Maryland, Oklahoma and Miami last weekend, according to reports.
It’s unclear at this point if any of those three schools have emerged as the favorite. Hurts has a close relationship with Maryland’s head coach and Miami’s new offensive coordinator, and it’s tough to undersell what Oklahoma has done with transfer QBs in recent years.
ESPN’s Paul Finebaum, for what it’s worth, sees Hurts ending up at Miami.
“I’d hate to bet it, but I’m leaning a little toward Miami,” Finebaum said on WJOX 94.5. “Oklahoma, to me, to just go there and be the next guy after two Heisman winners doesn’t sound like Jalen, but that would be my guess. But, man, you might as well just close your eyes and guess. I don’t understand Maryland.
“Forgetting the (Mike) Locksley situation, that just doesn’t seem like a place that Jalen Hurts would be happy.”
Hurts has one season of eligibility remaining. He’ll be able to play right away in 2019.
