Report: Alabama Closing In On Hiring Avery Johnson To Be Its New Basketball Coach

Alabama is reportedly getting close to hiring its next men's basketball coach.

According to ESPN.com's Andy Katz, Crimson Tide representatives are set to meet with Avery Johnson's representatives sometime this evening. Johnson, 50, spent five years as a head coach in the NBA; from 2005-08 with the Dallas Mavericks and from 2010-12 with the New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets.

Johnson reportedly "wants the challenge" of building up the Alabama basketball program.

Alabama's men's basketball team has made the NCAA Tournament just once since 2007. Would Johnson be a good hire?
