Report: Alabama DB Maurice Smith Will Transfer Out Of Program

Alabama senior defensive back Maurice Smith has been granted his release and will leave the Tide program, according to a report from AL.com. 

Per AL.com, Smith will join another program as a graduate transfer.

Smith, a native of Sugar Land, Tex. and member of the Crimson Tide's 2013 recruiting class, played in all 15 games last season, recording 15 tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery.

In his three seasons with the program, Smith played in 41 games, making two starts. He was a prime candidate to start at nickel back for the Tide this season.
