There's Controversy With This Year's Orange Bowl Trophy

The Orange Bowl trophy is one of the most-iconic in college football, with the multi-leveled trophy topped with a glass bowl full of oranges.

You would think that those oranges would be from the state of Florida, where the Orange Bowl is played.

You might be wrong in thinking that this year, though.

A controversy is brewing on social media surrounding the Orange Bowl trophy, as a box of California oranges was spotted next to it.

Uh oh.

Hopefully this is nothing more than an unfortunate coincidence and the Orange Bowl trophy will be using oranges from Miami.

Alabama and Oklahoma are set to kick off from the Orange Bowl at 8 p.m. E.T. on Saturday. The game will be on ESPN.
