When Auburn and Alabama make the headlines together, it’s almost always about the rivalry. The two fan-bases despise the other team’s fans, coaches and players. The Iron Bowl settles all disputes each and every season.
But sometimes, it means much more than a rivalry. Bo Nix struggled in Auburn’s first loss of the season this past Saturday. As a result, Tua Tagovailoa’s dad reached out to Bo and Bo’s father, Patrick, after the game.
Certainly goes to show the respect the two families have for each other despite their sons playing for rival schools.
Tua’s father, Galu, reached out to a CBS42’s Simone Eli to retrieve Patrick’s phone number first. His purpose? “Want to call and encourage him and son,” Galu said in a text message.
Check out the full exchange below.
This is TRUE sportsmanship! I received this from Tua’s dad, Galu Tagovailoa, asking to reach out to Patrick Nix about Bo

A classy move from Tua’s father. While fans tend to get caught up in the thick of a rivalry, this exchange goes to show the immense respect players and their families have for each other.
After starting the season 5-0 with a top-10 ranking, Bo finally looked like a true freshman. The Florida Gators pressured Bo into quick decisions, something he hasn’t had to deal with all season. As a result, the Tigers lost their first game of the year and dropped out of the top 10 as a result.
Hopefully with Galu’s help, Bo can bounce back this Saturday against Arkansas.
