Alabama plays some tough opponents this season. But those marquee games will happen down the stretch. The Crimson Tide are currently engaged in a surprisingly tight contest against Ole Miss.
It wasn't expected to be a close game on Saturday, but the Rebels are giving the Crimson Tide all they can handle to start the game.
At the end of the first quarter, Ole Miss held a very surprising 10-7 lead. Holding Tua Tagovailoa and the Alabama offense to just seven points in a quarter is no easy task. But the Rebels are putting up a tough fight.
Ole Miss was able to take advantage of an Alabama muffed punt in the first quarter. Starting at the Alabama 30-yard line, the Rebels put together a 7 play, 30 yard touchdown drive to tie the game at 7.
Later in the first quarter, Ole Miss relied heavily on its rushing attack and did so in impressive fashion. The Rebels tacked on a field goal after a drive consisting of 13 plays and 65 yards. The three points gave Mississippi a 10-7 lead.
The Crimson Tide responded to start the second quarter though. Deep in Ole Miss territory, Tagovailoa froze the defense with a nifty hesitation move before trotting into the end zone for a touchdown. The score helped the Tide regain the lead at 14-10.
It was a big score for Tua.
It's still early in the second quarter, but Ole Miss is playing some really good football.
The game is on CBS.
