As the state of Alabama hunkers down in the fight against coronavirus, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban has a message for its residents.
This afternoon, Saban released a message to not just his fan base but Alabamans in general. In it, he detailed the measures he and his program have taken as a result of the coronavirus outbreak and urged listeners to follow the recommendations of medical experts.
“As we have said to our team, we share the same message to all of you. Please understand the following guidelines of social distancing. It’s important,” Saban said. “We ask that everyone please wash your hands often. Stay at home if at all possible. And when you have to be out in public, make sure you keep six feet between you and the nearest person.”
Saban was adamant that “we are in this together” and spoke about looking forward to the upcoming college football season. However, he also made it clear that the only way a 2020 season even occurs is if the rules of social distancing are followed and prove effective.
“The best and safest way to ensure that happens is to listen to the experts, follow their guidelines and take care of each other,” Saban said. “Stay safe and Roll Tide.”

Kudos to Saban for this message. His word carries more weight in Alabama than any politician, local or federal.
Hopefully anyone who heard this PSA and wasn’t taking the coronavirus seriously has quickly changed their mind.
