As we've noted before, the Alabama vs. Auburn rivalry has no boundaries - and that now includes inside nursing homes. Tigers head coach Gus Malzahn and other AU athletics employees spent the school's Community Service Day cleaning up a cemetery, helping build a house and visiting people in retirement homes. Malzahn hosted "hurry-up, no huddle bingo" with some of the staff, and couldn't resist taking a shot at Auburn's "opponents", who also want him to slow down.
Alabama head coach Nick Saban and Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema had been vocal about their support for the proposed "10-second rule" that would have given defenses more time to substitute between plays. Malzahn, given his hurry-up offense, was not in favor of the idea. The proposal was tabled back in early March.
