Yet another notable football coach is reportedly joining Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama: former Heisman winner and Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks coach Chris Weinke.
According to John Brice, Weinke is expected to join Alabama’s staff after originally interviewing with Tennessee.
Strongly hear per folks in Carolinas, others ex-Heisman winner Chris Weinke, interviewed w/ Vols, will join Saban's 'Bama staff @colecubelic

New offensive coordinator Brian Daboll is also handling quarterbacks, so it is unclear what Weinke’s official role with Alabama football will be. Alabama is no stranger to bringing in big-name people as analysts, so that could be where Weinke fits in.
Most will likely remember Weinke as the 2000 Heisman Trophy winner at Florida State. That year, he threw for 4,167 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, while completing over 61-percent of his throws. Weinke, who postponed his college career to play baseball until 1996 (after originally being a member of the 1990 recruiting class), was drafted in the fourth round by the Carolina Panthers, where he started 15 games as a rookie. He went on start just five more games in four more NFL seasons.
Weinke spent time serving as football director at high school powerhouse IMG Academy, before taking the Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks coach position ahead of the 2015-16 season. He was let go after the firing of former head coach Jeff Fisher after the 2016-17 season.
