While Georgia was well on its way to locking up an SEC title and College Football Playoff berth, Gary Danielson gave a weird argument about Alabama’s chances.
Oklahoma and Georgia have likely punched their tickets to the four-team field. Clemson, Miami, and Wisconsin are likely in the same situation.
The real drama comes down to one-loss Alabama, or a potential two-loss Big Ten champion Ohio State.
Late in the game, Danielson went into some pro-Alabama argument, and it is a bit all over the place.

The quote comes after Danielson was asked if Georgia dominating Auburn should have an impact on Alabama’s playoff resume.
“I don’t think the committee should take this game into effect at all. I think game one to the last game, Alabama’s been the most consistent team. I think you can make the argument that top-to-bottom, they have not had any bad games. They’re one of the four best teams. That’s the way I look at it.”
Danielson also cited the “precedent” that the committee started last year, putting in Ohio State as an at-large team over Big Ten Champion Penn State.
Gary Danielson said the playoff committee members "have to live with the decision and precedent they set last year."
No, they don't. They have to choose the four best teams. They don't have to follow any precedent related to how they chose the four best teams any other year.

There is some debate over what Danielson means by “the committee shouldn’t take this effect.” My best read on it is that he’s arguing that Auburn, which just beat Alabama handily, having a bad performance vs. Georgia shouldn’t reflect poorly on the Crimson Tide, and that Alabama should be in over Ohio State.
Twitter isn’t impressed.
Never go full Danielson.

Danielson is making me mad enough to punch a wall by slobbering all over Bama and the SEC.

"Most of the eyeball experts were saying Auburn's defense was too good… that's the problem with the eyeball test." — Gary Danielson, 2 minutes after saying that Alabama should make the playoffs because the eyeball test

Did I just hear Bama homer Gary Danielson say that this game shouldn’t keep Bama out of the Top 4???? So UGA beats the team Bama couldn’t and Bama gets in??? Ok Gary 😂😂😂

Surprised Gary Danielson isn’t congratulating Alabama for their performance today.

Again, it seems likely that Danielson was actually stumping for Alabama over Ohio State, but he definitely didn’t present his argument well at all.
