Arkansas has fired head coach Bret Bielema.

Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema, who led the Razorbacks to a 4-8 record this past season, has been fired by the university. Bielema's squad finished with a 1-7 record in the SEC - including a 48-45 loss to Missouri on Friday afternoon.

Bielema lasted five seasons in Fayetteville. He finishes with a 29-34 overall record and an 11-29 mark in the league. His teams qualified for bowl games in three of his five seasons - but never won more than eight games in a single season.

Arkansas announced the news in a PR email. There's also a press conference scheduled for Friday night.

It's unclear where Arkansas will turn in its head coaching search. The Razorbacks have a solid program, but competition in the SEC West year-in and year-out makes it a tougher job than most.
