The Battle Line Rivalry between Arkansas and Missouri will have a little extra juice in 2020. Barry Odom, who spent the last four years as head coach at Missouri, has just joined the Razorbacks as Sam Pittman’s new defensive coordinator.
ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit saw the news and had just two words for Arkansas. Taking to Twitter on Monday, Herbstreit called Odom an “outstanding hire.”
Odom was one of former Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel’s top assistants during his 15-year tenure with the Tigers. His Tigers defenses contributed mightily to the team making four conference championships in eight years.
But despite finishing 6-6 in 2019, Odom was fired following four straight years finishing third or worst in the SEC East.

Missouri won the Battle Line Rivalry in each of Odom’s four years at the helm. But now that he’s working against his former team, he might have the winning formula for beating new Tigers coach Eliah Drinkwitz.
Will Odom be able to lift the Arkansas defense into bowl contention in 2020?
