4-Star QB Kellen Mond Down To 2 SEC Schools In His Recruitment

Earlier this month, four-star quarterback Kellen Mond announced a top three: Auburn, Ohio State, and Texas A&M. With OSU's addition of five-star recruit Tate Martell, Mond has removed Ohio State from his list, and is focusing on the Tigers and Aggies. The former Baylor commit spoke to Scout about that decision, and where the two programs stand, and how he fits the systems.

“I really don’t have a number one right now,” Mond said. “I went to A&M last week and Auburn this week. I really just have to get back home and talk to my parents and kind of see what they feel with the environment and type of offense and just weigh everything into my decision.”

"I think I fit both," Mond said. "Running the ball isn't going to hurt me, so running the ball in the Auburn offense or being a more pro quarterback in the Texas A&M offense I think I can fit both very well."

247Sports ranks Mond No. 3 among dual-threat quarterbacks.

Mond plans to make his announcement on Twitter, with the decision set to come in the next month. From SEC Country:

The Tigers were listed as his favorite shortly after rescinding his commitment to Baylor, but he now says Auburn and Texas A&M are tied at the top. He will commit to one of the two schools before July 17.

“It’s going to be a big day, probably blow up all over Twitter and all over the Internet, but once my decision is in, I plan to shut my recruitment down and juts really focus on that school,” Mond said.

Auburn currently does not have a 2017 quarterback commit, while Texas A&M has three-star Connor Blumrick in the fold.
