An SEC program currently has the No. 1 basketball recruiting class for the 2017 cycle.
No, it's not Kentucky.
Auburn, led by Bruce Pearl, has the top class in America for the current recruiting cycle. The Tigers have three commitments, including one from five-star power forward Austin Wiley. Auburn's other two commits are both four-stars - point guard Davion Mitchell and small forward Chuma Okeke.
Here are 247Sports' team rankings for the 2017 class. The top 10 is full of teams that normally won't be there.
It's still very early on in the 2017 cycle. Basketball recruits typically take longer to commit than football recruits, and most of the top prospects in the class have yet to make a decision. Just four of the top 25 players in 247Sports' player rankings have committed to a school.
Still, what Pearl has been able to do at Auburn - recruiting wise, anyway - in the short time he's been there is very impressive.
Pearl has compiled a 26-40 record through two seasons with the Tigers. Getting some elite recruits should help change that.
