Auburn doesn’t usually win the Iron Bowl, but in recent years when it does, the game is absolutely wild. We may not have gotten another Kick Six on Saturday, but the 48-45 Tigers win was one of the most fun games of the year.
After the game, Auburn had plenty to celebrate. Obviously, winning the Iron Bowl is always a big deal, but the Tigers effectively ended Alabama’s College Football Playoff run.
The Crimson Tide have never missed the Playoff, since the postseason system was adopted for the 2014 season. That streak appears destined to end now, with multiple one-loss teams vying for the final Playoff spot, and Alabama sitting at two losses and without quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
After the game, Gus Malzahn was fired up, even submitting his celebratory Waffle House order early, before he left the field.
The locker room scene was just as euphoric as you’d think as well.
SEC Network tweeted out video from Auburn’s locker room at Jordan-Hare Stadium, after the dramatic win.

The end of this one was pretty wild, as Auburn Iron Bowl wins are wont to be.
Alabama missed a game-tying chip shot, with Joseph Bulovas putting his kick off the upright with two minutes left in the game.
The Crimson Tide might’ve gotten another chance to tie or win the game, but some Malzahn trickery on fourth down led to an Alabama substitution penalty and a new set of downs, allowing Auburn to run out the clock and seal the victory.
