Auburn’s Iron Bowl win over Alabama has brought joy to Tiger fans everywhere. For them, there’s nothing like beating the Crimson Tide and ruining their season in the process.
Even administrators from the academic side of AU are feeling the effects of the game. This afternoon, Dean Joe Aistrup of the College of Liberal Arts issued a statement before finals week asking for professors to add one extra second to their upcoming exam time.
Aistrup is clearly referring to one second being added to the clock before the final play of the first half on Saturday. Instead of going into halftime down 31-24, Auburn had the opportunity to convert a crucial field goal using the additional tick.
There was also one second left before the “Kick Six” back in 2013.
“It is undeniable that when every second counts, Auburn men and women make great things happen,” the statement reads. “Under Coach Malzahn’s leadership student-athletes have twice proven the difference that :01 can make. In the spirit of continued success, I hereby authorize professors and instructors to add one second to the allotted times for next week’s final exams.”

With the win on Saturday, Auburn finishes the regular season at 9-3. They’d only won nine or more games twice before in six seasons under Gus Malzahn.
Both of those times, the Tigers finished with 10 or more wins. In order to reach that benchmark in 2019, they have to win whatever bowl game they participate in.
