It has been a wild week for Auburn and head coach Gus Malzahn. First, there were whispers that the Tigers were pursuing former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops to replace Malzahn for next season.

Then, it was reported yesterday that Auburn was on the verge of reaching a new agreement with Malzahn, one in which his buyout number would be reduced. Such a move would effectively make it easier to move on from Malzahn in the future.

If you're wondering where things stand right now, well, they are chaotic, according to ALReporter's Josh Moon. Moon was on the Stoops rumors early, and today he indicated there is discord behind the scenes.

"No one knows what's going on or what will come next," Moon said.

Malzahn has compiled a 52-27 record in six seasons at Auburn, though he is just 1-4 in bowl games.

He led the Tigers to an SEC title and BCS National Championship Game appearance in 2013 and another SEC West crown in 2017.
