For Auburn fan Giancarlo Guida, the Toomer's Corner oaks will never die. He now has them immortalized on his back in tattoo form.
Auburn's famous trees were intentionally poisoned by Alabama fan Harvey Updyke in 2011, and despite numerous efforts to save them, sadly, they will die this year. Guida, a 2002 Auburn grad, told The War Eagle Reader why he decided to get inked.
"“I thought that was a great way to capture the trees after that asshole killed them,” Guida said in reference to Harvey Updyke, who recently pleaded guilty to the poisoning."
Perhaps this should have been Updyke's punishment instead of three years in prison.
