Photo: Nick Marshall Is Listed First On Auburn's Depth Chart For Season Opener Despite Jeremy Johnson Being Named Starter
It's been known for a while that Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall will not start the team's season opener against Arkansas. However, in the team's first depth chart of the 2014 season, Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn made a peculiar decision: he decided to put Marshall as his top quarterback, with Jeremy Johnson -- who will start the game -- listed as his backup.

This is an interesting move by Malzahn, especially because the decision to not start Marshall is punishment for the quarterback's citation for marijuana possession earlier this month. However, there is a chance that we see Marshall when the Tigers host the Razorbacks on Saturday afternoon, as it was reported that Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee told both quarterbacks that they should "be ready to go and be ready to play."
