The Bryan Harsin era at Auburn is officially under way. There’s plenty of work that has to be done for him to get the program back on top in the SEC, but for now his focus is on putting together the best coaching staff possible.
According to FootballScoop.com, Harsin is zeroing in on South Carolina offensive coordinator Mike Bobo for the same position.
Despite the overhaul to its coaching staff in recent months, South Carolina kept Bobo for the 2021 season. He was offered a two-year, $1.2 million deal from new Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer.
Bobo is a hot commodity on the coaching market, so it makes sense for Harsin to have him on his wishlist. Whether he’ll be able to pull this move off is a different story, though.
With a two-year deal already under his belt, Bobo could choose to stick it out with Beamer. However, there are some offensive pieces on Auburn’s roster that might entice him to jump ship. It would be fun to see what kind of offense he could build around Tank Bigsby and Bo Nix.

Auburn’s decision to make Harsin its next head coach wasn’t initially viewed as a home-run hire. Poaching a top assistant from a rival SEC program would be quite a power move.
The next few weeks will be crucial for Harsin’s tenure with the Tigers, as he tries to build an elite coaching staff around him.
