Antwaun Powell, a 2020 defensive end, has had plenty of offers on the table and has made several official visits this month. But after his most recent visit, he decided to announce his commitment.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Powell announced that he would be committing to the Florida Gators. Powell’s announced comes less than ten days after he visited the Florida campus for an official visit.
247Sports rates Powell as a four-star recruit and the No. 136 overall prospect in the country. He is the No. 6 weak-side defensive end in the nation, and the No. 3 prospect from the state of Virginia.
The announcement by Powell is a blow to a number of ACC teams, including Georgia Tech, UNC, and Virginia Tech.

In bringing Powell into the fold, the Florida Gators’ 2020 recruiting class is now ranked No. 5 in the country and No. 4 in the SEC per 247Sports.
Their 18-man recruiting class included nine four-star prospects – the fourth most in the nation.
Last year, Florida went 9-3 in the regular season, earning a trip to the Peach Bowl where they easily beat Michigan, 41-15.
The Gators will be a dogfight for SEC East dominance in the 2019 season, and a strong class this year will go a long way towards them knocking Georgia off the throne.
