Florida defensive lineman Elijah Conliffe's season is over before it started, according to a new social media post.

Conliffe posted two photos on his Instagram story this morning, one of which featured the caption "Lord why?" and another which read "My season ova, so I gotta take it out on somebody."

Conliffe projected to have a role in Florida's d-line rotation this season. The junior defensive tackle played in 11 games last season, starting two.

He recorded 13 tackles and a fumble recovery.

Conliffe didn't provide a reason why his season might be over, but he had been wearing a red non-contact jersey in practice on Monday, according to reporters.

We'll see if Florida provides an update on Conliffe at some point today.

The Gators, ranked eighth in the preseason AP top 25, are set to open their season up on Saturday night against Miami in Orlando.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET on ABC.
