Florida is keeping it in the family with their latest offer.
Dallas (Tex.) Jesuit sophomore running back EJ Smith has great football bloodlines.
He is the son of Emmitt Smith, the legendary NFL Hall of Fame running back for the Dallas Cowboys. His dad owns nearly every major rushing record in NFL history.
EJ Smith is pretty good in his own right. He already held offers from Arkansas, Georgia, Jackson State, Kentucky, Ohio State and SMU, but tonight he picked up a special new one.
Florida gave EJ Smith his seventh offer tonight. For those of you who may not be familiar, Florida is Emmitt Smith’s alma mater.
It is where he rushed for nearly 4,000 yards and 36 touchdowns in three seasons before getting picked by the Cowboys in the first round of the 1990 NFL Draft.
As you might imagine, Dad is pretty proud.
“My boy got an offer from the Gator Nation. Now that is pretty doggone cool,” Emmitt Smith said in a video his son posted on Twitter.
I am blessed to say that I have received an offer to go to the University of Florida. Thank you for the opportunity. @SkysTheLimitWR @EJHolland247 @DemetricDWarren @Jason_Howell @FloridaGators @CoachDanMullen pic.twitter.com/RDUKwxGSif

At 5-foot-11, 190 pounds, EJ Smith is already two inches taller than his dad but still trails him by 30 pounds. Emmitt was listed at 221 in his playing days.
Congratulations to father and son.
