Jim McElwain Says No Status Change For Nine Suspended Players

Florida head coach Jim McElwain speaks at the podium.

Nine Florida football players remain suspended.

According to Florida head coach Jim McElwain, there is no status change for the nine players suspended from the program. The Gators are scheduled to take on SEC East foe Kentucky this upcoming Saturday.

The nine players - Antonio Callaway, Keivonnis Davis, Ventrell Miller, Jordan Scarlett, Richerd Desir-Jones, Jordan Smith, Kadeem Telfort and Rick Wells - have yet to play this season. While the school has been quiet about the reasoning, reports suggest it's connected to "misuse of scholarship funds" by the players.

Florida, despite being shorthanded, was able to take down Tennessee this past Saturday after some last-second heroics. They'll take on a Kentucky team this Saturday that's flying high after a big win over South Carolina.
